Brass Blackening and Brushing

Blackening is a conversion coating for Brass alloys.  It is used for appearance an to minimize light reflection.  Our process is not a oxide conversion coating but rather a deposited selenium compound.

We can follow this process with a quick brushing to give a beautiful black and raw copper look for architectural profiles and sheeting.

After blackening (Brushing) we coat the profile or sheet metal with either a lacquer or a clear coat powder coating to give additional wear protection.

The main applications for this finish is:

  • Decorative Sheeting used as architectural accents and building façades
  • Staircases and staircase handrails
  • Kick and push plates
  • Kitchen Back Splashes
  • Pillar wraps
  • Engraved push and pull plates for doors
